FAIRBANKS, AK - Alaska Rifle head coach Dan Jordan announced the signing of Cody Rutter of Palmyra, Pennsylvania and Christofer Olofsson of Stromsund, Sweden to National Letters of Intent for the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

Rutter, the 2005 intermediate junior National Champion, was a standout shooter for the Palmyra Jr. Rifle Team for six years. His list of accomplishments includes first place finishes in the 2005 Camp Perry National Match as well as the US Nationals that same year. In 2006 he earned the title of Pennsylvania State Indoor Champion, followed by a second place finish in air rifle at the Pennsylvania Junior Olympic Rifle Championships (JORC) in 2007.

No stranger to winning teams, Rutter was a member of the Palmyra Rifle team that captured the title at the 2005 and 2007 Pennsylvania JORC Championships in smallbore and the 2006 title for air rifle. The team also placed first at the 2007 American Legion Pennsylvania State Championships in air rifle.

A multiple-sport standout athlete, Rutter played lacrosse for the Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School, netting a season best of 50 goals in a single season in 2005.

Olofsson, who competed in the 2006 World Championships, is also expected to play a big role for the Nanooks and help fill the void left by All-Americans Matthias Dierolf and Christian Lejon. He placed third in the 2004 and 2005 European Championships for juniors in the three-position at 50m. Olofsson was also a member of the National team that won gold medals in the 3x40, prone, and air rifle events at the Nordic Championships for juniors in 2004.

As a freshman Olofsson earned the shooting high school student of the year award, followed by the Sven Froms award his sophomore year. In 2005 he was named High School Athlete of the Year for his shooting accomplishments.

A former teammate of current Nanooks shooter, sophomore to be Patrik Sartz, Olofsson placed 5th in the Swedish Championships Senior 2006 and 4th in the 2007 Swedish Championships. He is ranked first in the 10m in Sweden and 53rd on the world ranking list.

They join Taylor Beard (Parker, Colorado) in the 2007-08 recruiting class.
