Nanook All-Sports Banquet Set For Friday, May 2



The University of Alaska Fairbanks Department of Athletics will hold its annual end-of-season All-Sports Banquet Friday, May 2 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Westmark Hotel in the Gold Room.

FAIRBANKS, AK -The University of Alaska Fairbanks Department of Athletics will hold its annual end-of-season All-Sports Banquet Friday, May 2 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Westmark Hotel in the Gold Room.

Former six-time rifle All-American and four-time NCAA Championship team member Amber Darland (1998-2002) will be the Master of Ceremony. Darland, who was an IAC Student-Athlete of the Year as a senior (2001-02), is a certified massage therapist and posture alignment specialist in Fairbanks.

This is the athletic department's premier end-of-the-year event and in addition to the recognition of each team's Most Valuable Player and Dr. Wood Scholar-Athlete, will be the naming of the Humanitarian of the Year, the Harris Shelton Spirit of Competition recipient, the Intercollegiate Athletics Committee male and female student-athlete of the year, and the Athletic Director's Coach of the Year.

The public is invited to join the coaches and staff in recognizing student-athletes for their 2007-2008 achievements. The cost for the dinner event is $38. Advance purchase is required and no tickets will be sold at the door. All reservations must be made by April, 29, 2008.
