Marius Korthauer continues to rack up postseason awards for an excellent 2008 season

Marius Korthauer Captures FasterSkier.com Men's Collegiate Skier of the Year

April 23, 2008

FAIRBANKS, AK- Alaska's Marius Korthauer has been named the men's Collegiate Skier of the Year by the FasterSkier.com website. In what the website called a difficult decision, Korthauer's performance at the NCAA Championships last month, where he took home an individual national championship in the 20K classic and a silver medal in the skate race, gave him the edge over the other male nominees.

Korthauer finished his four-year Alaska career in grand fashion, taking the top collegiate spot in all but three of his 12 events for the Nanooks this season. He was the overall winner of six straight events at one point in the season: a run that included a Central Collegiate Ski Association title in the 10k skate race. Korthauer was also the top collegiate finisher at both the distance classic and freestyle events at the U.S. Cross Country Championship in January.

Colorado's Maria Grevsagaard took home the website's female college skier of the year crown.
