Player Profile

Position:
Volunteer Assistant Coach

Experience:
1st Year

Education:
B.A. University of Alaska Fairbanks

Though this may be his first season serving as an assistant with the Nanooks, Coach Sconiers is no stranger to the men's basketball program. Sconiers spent three seasons (2002-2004) playing guard for Alaska, taking the floor alongside Brad Oleson. Sconiers is also a part of Nanooks history, having been a member of the 2002 team that won both the GNAC title as well as the Top of the World Classic: the only Division II school to have ever won a Division I tournament. He was named the team's Defensive Player of the Year in his senior season with the Nanooks.

Sconiers graduated from UAF in 2005, receiving a bachelor's degree in sociology. Before re-joining the Nanooks, he served as an assistant basketball coach at West Valley High School from 2005-2007.
