Lynne Andrew begins her fifth year at the helm of the Alaska Nanook women's basketball program. Andrew herself is a decorated former player who excelled at the high school, junior college, Division I and pro levels. She brought her valuable coaching experience to Fairbanks after nearly a decade and a half as an assistant at numerous respected Division I and II basketball programs. After her successful basketball prep career at North Park High School in Brantford, Ontario ended, Andrew earned an athletic scholarship to Lake Region Community College in Devils Lake, ND. While at Lake Region, she took her game to the next level earning National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-American honors. The school, now known as UND-Lake Region, placed Andrew in the athletics Hall of Fame in 1991. In 1986, Andrew continued her collegiate career at Montana State University in Bozeman, MT. Proving she could compete at the DI level, Andrew was named to the Big Sky All-Conference First Team as both a junior and senior. She helped lead her team to a 24-6 record her last year, which earned them a place in the Women's National Invitational Tournament. She was named to the WNIT All-Tournament Team and was later tabbed as one of the top 40 players in nation by being named a Kodak District 7 All-American. In 2002, Andrew was inducted into the Montana State University Hall of Fame. After playing professionally in Wolfenbuttel, Germany for a season, Andrew returned to MSU to finish school and begin her coaching career. For the next two years she was a full-time college student, assistant girl's varsity coach at Bozeman High School and a student assistant women's basketball coach at MSU. Following her graduation in 1991, Andrew was offered an assistant position by University of North Dakota head coach Gene Roebuck, her former coach at Lake Region. She spent the next four years helping the Fighting Sioux to 96-19 record and laid the groundwork for three straight NCAA Championships after her departure. Andrew next landed at Division I Weber State University in Ogden, UT as an assistant coach. During her two years in Ogden, the team went 43-17 and placed second in the Big Sky Conference. She then jumped to an assistant position at Idaho State University in Pocatello, ID as the recruiting coordinator. In 2001, ISU established the best record in school history (25-5) including a perfect record in Big Sky play, the conference tournament title and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Andrew earned her bachelor's degree in physical education/health from Montana State and her master's degree in athletic administration from Idaho State University.
