Prior to AlaskaSwam and played water polo in high school...gathered numerous awards in swimming, including being a 4-time MVP; the most improved, and most valuable rookie her freshman year, and most inspirational her junior year...she was the captain her senior year...in water polo she was named the offensive standout both her sophomore and junior years...holds every individual team record at her high school....also swam with the Killer Whales Swim Club for 10 years...currently holds the team records for 200, 500, and 1000 yd freestyle events, as well as the 200 yd butterfly and 400 yd IM.

Coach Lemley on Kinsey:"When Kinsey originally told me a `good academic match' was her number one priority in picking a university to attend and that she wanted to study Petroleum Engineering, I thought I'd won the lottery. She was smart, fit and hungry to improve. She came into our program with best times slightly slower than our school records in the 200 and 400 yd IMs which meant she'd have great versatility. She really impressed me during her official visit by being knowledgeable about not just our team but our conference as well. She knew what event she would place highest in (the 400 IM) and how much time she'd need to drop to make it to the championship final (8 seconds). This year she's focused on the 200 fly as well as the IMs. She has one of the best work ethics of any swimmer I've ever coached."

Personal:Daughter of George and Donna Laine...plans to major in Economics.
