2007-2008: Placed first in the 200 yard Individual Medley and 200 Backstroke at home against LMU October 21...placed second in the long medley pentathlon (6:35.33) October 13 in Riverside, CA...holds 5 individual Team Records: 200 Back, 100/200 Breaststrokes, 200/400 yard Individual Medleys, and is a member of the 800 yd freestyle relay team that set a varsity record on February 13 at the PCSC Conference Championships with a time of 8:00.49...earned All Conference Honors at the PCSC Conference Championship in Long Beach, CA...named Team Most Valuable Player.

Prior to Alaska: Led her team to victory at the Moscow Region Championships by winning seven gold medals in 2007...2006 high school champion.

Coach Lemley on Mariya:"I was very excited to see Mariya swim when she arrived in Fairbanks her freshman year. I'd only seen her best times and spoken to her on the phone until then. Her ability in the water exceeded my already high expectations. She was very homesick her first year and the transition from being a high school student in Russia to a college student in America was very challenging. Fortunately she is very bright and very motivated. She's been a wonderful addition to our team and has a very bright future."
